Biography

Jo Clarke is a contemporary ceramic artist who lives and works in The Bay Area. She was born in England and has lived and worked in Europe, the Asia Pacific, and North America. She studied graphic design at Harrow College of Art, London, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree (Hons).

Jo Clarke is an accomplished branding consultant with unique expertise and a considered approach to brand activation and brand management. She has successfully guided strategic rebranding programs across many diverse industries around the world.

While at art school, Jo developed a passion for working with clay, which she has since rediscovered. Over the last 6-years, she has become an accomplished ceramic artist with an aesthetic that clearly draws upon her graphic design background, boldly simplified shapes, clean and graphic color, and pattern.

Jo lives and works in Mill Valley, CA, with her husband, teenage daughter, and dog Hamish.

A bit about me

The creation of visual beauty, combined with the craft of building a physical form in clay, draws me to ceramic art. Whether hand building or throwing, I draw on my graphic design and fine-art background and love of simple-form to explore shape and color to create modern and pleasing ceramic forms.
